New for '12

  • Substitution allowances have been changed to the following:
    • Small Groups (one to four participants) are allowed one substitution.
    • Large Groups (five to ten participants) are allowed two substitutions.
    • Choir is allowed three substitutions.
    • Groups of one to ten are allowed one substitution if the original group had one to four participants; two substitutions if the original group had  five to ten participants. The original group is understood to be the group members that participated at the district Festival. If a student registered for but did not participate in a group at the district Festival, he/she will not be counted in the original group.
  • Click tracks, metronomes, or other rhythmic stability assistance devices or technology are disallowed.
  • Framing, other than matte board, is no longer permitted in the Art Division categories.
  • "Mounting" is no longer required for entries in the Visual Art, Three Dimensional category.
  • Scripture reference must be cited with all scripture quotations or readings in Short Sermon categories.
  • Spoken Word is now an official category in the Communication Division.
  • Step/Urban Solo/Troupe is divided into the categories of Step Solo/Troupe and Urban Solo/Troupe within the Dance Division
  • The Lyrical genre within the Worship Dance categories is renamed "Contemporary."
  • Human Video Ensemble, Spanish is an official category in the Drama Division
  • Dramatized Quoting is a new category in the Exhibition Division.
  • Instrumental Ensemble, Contemporary is an official category in the Instrumental Division.
  • Keyboard Solo is renamed Piano Solo. Piano is the only approved instrument.
  • Vocal Ensemble, Spanish is an official category in the Vocal Division.
   And a reminder for the District festival art categories: 
  • Three Dimensional Visual Art has been included as a category
  • Artwork size requirements are:
    • minimum - 4"x6"
    • maximum - 32"x32"
  • District Competition: Artwork must be sent to the District office postmarked by the registration deadline.
  • All Writing and Short Film entries must be sent to the District Office by the application deadline

Participation in the District Fine Arts Festival is open to any student between the ages of 12 and 17 as of September 1, 2011 or enrolled in grades 6-12 as of September 1, 2011 who attend an Assembly of God church or an Assembly of God youth ministry.

Groups or individuals from other churches may participate on the District level but would not be eligible to advance to the National festival.

Graphic Design*, T-shirt Design*, Traditional Photography, Digital Photography, Two-dimensional Visual Art, Three-dimensional Visual Art.
Communications Division
Puppetry Solo/Group, Children's Lesson Solo/Group*, Short Sermon (Jr,Sr)/Spanish Short Sermon*, American Sign Language Solo/Group, Short Film, Spoken Word.
Dance Division
Step
Solo/Troupe, Urban Solo/Troupe, Worship Dance Solo Troupe.
Drama Division
Drama Solo/Ensemble*, Human Video Solo/Ensemble.
Instrumental Division
Guitar Solo, Piano Solo, String Solo, Woodwind/Brass Solo, Traditional Instrumental Ensemble, Traditional Percussion Solo/Ensemble, Unconventional Percussion.
Vocal Division
Christian Band, Worship Team, Rap Solo/Group, Songwriting, Vocal Solo/Ensemble/Spanish, Choir.
Writing Division
First Person Essay*,
Script Writing*, Short Story*, Book Chapter, Poetry*, Children's Literature Solo/Collaborated*.
Exhibition Division
Dramatized Quoting, Contemporary Instrumental Ensemble, Spoken Word.

*The categories marked with an asterisk must meet the theme interpretation requirement.

Art, Writing, and Songwriting entries must be the original work of the student created  in the current Fine Arts year (after September 1, 2010)
