ONE DAY TO SERVE

One Day To Serve

Once again we are offering a great opportunity for your youth to be involved in a practical ministry project during the Youth Convention. Over the past two years over 1000 students and leaders in conjunction with Connect Community Church, New England Masters Commission and Adopt-a-Block have donated their time the Friday afternoon of Youth Convention to meet the needs of the Portsmouth community by cleaning, painting, raking, shoveling, and much more at various project sites around the city. The response from the city has been incredible, and the Christ-like example from our students has changed lives.

The first 250 students and leaders who sign up by going online to www.newenglandmc.com will be able to participate, so don’t wait until the last minute to decide. If your group did not have the chance to participate last year or if you had a fantastic time of ministry and it changed the lives of your teens, you’ll want to get signed up for this event. Lunch is provided right after the morning session and the projects are finished by 4:00 so you can get back to your hotel, have dinner and make it to the evening session.

Some Information...
Right after the morning session on Friday, all the students and leaders participating in ONE DAY TO SERVE will be served lunch and sent to different areas of the church to get briefed on their assignment for the afternoon. From there we’ll head out to our assigned neighborhoods to participate in various service projects. The projects will wrap up at 4:00, so you can get back to your rooms, get cleaned up, have some dinner and head back for our evening rally.

How much does it cost?
It will cost you time and labor, but there is no financial cost for the event itself. You and your students will receive lunch, and a t-shirt to be worn for the event. Come to the AM session prepared to head out for work in the afternoon with closed toe shoes and clothes appropriate to work in.

Why should I be involved?
This is a perfect way for you to exemplify the principles of compassion, love, and service that govern the lives of Christ’s followers. We believe this will be a life-changing time in your lives as you live out Christ’s love through service, and that it has the potential to have an incredible impact on the Portsmouth area.

How do I sign up?
If you and/or your group are interested in participating in ONE DAY TO SERVE you must sign up in advance of the event. This is absolutely necessary so that we can have projects available for everyone who wants to participate. Fill out the signup sheet here.
