"Power Up"

Retreat Speaker
Guest Speaker:

Rev. Randy Ruiz, Ruiz Evangelistic Ministries

Doug ClayRandy believes there is an awakening that must take place in the body of Christ if we are ever going to see “TRUE REVIVAL in America.” This awakening constitutes a deep commitment to holiness, purity, and men returning to being the priest of their homes. In order to fulfill this call we must understand what it is to truly “Walk in the Spirit.” Walking in the Spirit is not giftings, or manifestations but rather an insatiable appetite for more of Christ. Randy will challenge the church that through the power of the Holy Spirit a common human is altered and empowered to fulfill a divine mission from God. He feels the clear purpose of this explosion is to throw you out of your routine and launch you into a new level of effectiveness. This immersion of Fire gives your system the shock necessary to jump start action.

Friday Activities

Starting after the devotion time on Friday morning, we will be offering a variety of activities that you can particpate in. The idea of having these activities is to give you a time to fellowship with one another, build relationships, and enjoy som down time.

Motorcycle Ride - Departing from the Grand Jordan, you will take a scenic tour of nortwestern Maine stopping for lunch along the way. Pastor dave Blakney will be your host for this ride. You will need to bring your bike and a little cash for lunch and gas.

Shooting - The Royal Rangers will be provided the equipment and the ammo to give you an opportunity to spend some time at a local gun club with targets and skeet. Your only cost will be your lunch and any donation you'd like to give to help cover the ammo. Please do not bring your own guns or ammo to the retreat.

Paint Ball -  The Royal Rangers again are helping us with a paint ball field. There will be short games set up so you can try your skill. Dress appropriately and plan on enjoying a great day. You can bring any safety equipment you have, but the guns will be provided by the Rangers. Your cost will lunch and any donation you'd like to give to help with the cost fo the ammo.

Golf - We will be playing at the Sunday River Golf Club, one of the premiere courses in Maine. We will try to divide the teams up to include various skill levels. Our format will be scramble so everyone gets to hit some shots and contribute to their teams success. If you have someone you'd really like to partner with. Let us know and we will do everything we can to arrange that. The cost for this event is $65, that you can pay with your retreat registration, and you will also be responsible for any food you'd like to eat.

On the grounds - There is also an outdoor pool, health club, and plenty of trails to hike or walk for times of introspection or relaxation.

Information

We are returning to Sunday River but we will be using the Jordan Grand Resort just a little further up the road. This conference facility has a large meeting room for our general sessions as well as comfortable meeting spaces for our breakouts. The attached hotel has traditional hotel rooms, as well as suites. There is also a meal plan available so that everything can be done in one building. There is also an outdoor pool, fitness room, and plenty of trails to hike or walk for times of introspection or relaxation.

Now some details:  Whether you come with a couple of friends or as a group from your church, you or someone in your group will be responsible for reserving the rooms you will need. You can download the Sunday River reservation form  HERE. The room cost is listed on the front. The figure does not include required gratuity or tax so add approximately 14% to that number (with tax and gratuities the rooms are about $90 and $120 respectively). The Standard and studio deluxe sleep four with either a double bed and pullout sofa, or a Murphy bed and pullout sofa (the studio rooms have a kitchenette). The one bedroom suite will sleep six with a double bed, a murphy bed, a pullout sofa, and a small kitchenette. Of course if you have less than four people in a room, your cost per person goes up, but it is up to you. Be aware that there is a cancellation fee if you reserve a room and do not use it ($50 if cancelled 14 or more days prior, one night's lodging if you cancel after that). You can change the number of men in a room, but if you decide that you do not need a room you have reserved, you will be charged that fee from the hotel.

Food….also on the back of the group reservation form is a place for you to request the meal plan for your men. There are not a lot of options for food in May on the mountain, so we are offering two meal plans that include a hot breakfast buffet, and a lunch buffet of sandwiches, and salad (and you can go back an extra time. The first plan includes breakfast on Friday and Saturday mornings and lunch on Saturday: The cost of this plan is $38.88 per person which includes tax and gratuity. Or you can just have breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and the cost of this plan is $26.88 (includes tax and gratuity). If you want to be part of either plan, you need to mark on the back of your reservation form how many of your men will be participating. If you do not  sign up for the meal plan, you will need to either bring your own food or plan on finding another spot to eat. Either way, the Steak Bar-B-Q Friday evening is provided as part of your registration.

You will also need to register for the conference through the District office. The cost per person is an inexpensive $35.00.  You can download the District retreat form HERE. Fill it out and return it to the District Office by the deadline date along with your payment. I am extremely excited about this year’s retreat because I believe we are taking the next step in men’s ministry in Northern New England.
